The PRASAD Project - Fall/Winter 2005
The first HIV case in India was detected in 1986. By the early 1990s there were a few thousand reported cases in the country, and today that number has risen to 5.1 million. If this trend continues, experts predict that India will have lost 25 million people to AIDS within the next five years.

The PRASAD Project - Autum/Winter 2004
The staff of the Muktananda Mobile Hospital has seen a dramatic rise in the incidence
of HIV in the Tansa Region over the past decade. Doctors and nurses of the new Gurudev Siddha Peeth Netra Chikitsa Hospital are diagnosing more and more HIV-infected children, and are meeting orphans whose parents have died from AIDS-related diseases.
